Breathwork Introductory Directions
Conscious Connected Breathwork Introductory Instructions:
For those of you who are new to conscious connected breathwork, here are the instructions how to do this type of breathing. This technique can be done through the nose or through the mouth.
Think about it, like a wave in the ocean, as one wave ends another one comes in. It is the same with your breath. Connect the inhale to the exhale with no gaps or pauses. This technique does not have to be fast, but it must be connected. You are the brake and the accelerator of your breath. You can go faster or you can slow it down at any time.
If you are doing this breath through the mouth, please use a wide open mouth like you are going to bite into a piece of fruit and inhale. The inhale can be done as a full body breath or in a 2 step pranayama technique where you take one breath through your mouth into your belly and stack another breath into your chest and then release. You can switch back to nose breathing at any time.
If sensations get to be too much you can slow down your breath or you can return to your normal breathing at any time. There are contraindications for doing this type of breathing. If you have any one of them, you are still more than able to do the breathwork but please do it in and out of your nose unless given permission by a doctor.
Please listen to these directions before your first Breathwork.
